Resident traits and quirks:
- Metals on The Surface are invaluable to either tier worlds, having been forged by mortals. Some Underworld residents peddle these as fakes in their home-world.
- Cities are dominated by malicious clans, which act very similarly to sorority and fraternities, with hazing processes.
- Vigilantes are a rarity often converted (freely or by force) by such clans to their own means, having connections all over the city.
- Resident deaths not transported immediately by Underworld officials often ascend or descend (become non-human) on their own, given that they have met pre-requisites for either world. They are then known as hiders, as coined only by officials whose duty is to collect the would-be citizens of their home-worlds. Hiders have varying degrees of pre-death memory loss, and the permanence of these is unknown.
- Humans become residents through birth, some beings reborn into the same world as different individuals/creatures having not met requirements of either afterworld; this accounts for several bodies that simply decay as opposed to ascension or descent.
- Average residents are Mortal, average lifespan is 100 years.
- Hiders possess halted ageing, improved regeneration and immunity, along with special traits specific to their would-be residency but if death occurs whether through hunger or injury this is permanent and sends the resident into limbo. On capture, hiders earn their first trait of being invisible to mortals.
- Almost none regarding either tier
- A small number of individuals seek out hiders to gain information regarding the tiers, but can only go as far as learning resident traits and not ascent/descent requirements. Some take guesses in complete ignorance of truth, having turned the study into its own science.
